NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man has been arrested on allegations he forged numerous checks.

Police said on Dec. 12, a victim contacted police and reported that their bank had contacted them and made them aware of several checks on their account that may be forged.

After further investigation, it was determined the alleged victim was missing checks and approximately 10 checks had been used fraudulently at businesses in North Platte.

Police said officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Timothy Dike.

On Jan. 9, officers observed Dike driving a vehicle in the area of Rodeo Rd. and Carr St.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Dike fled in the vehicle.

Because officers had identified Dike as the driver, police said the pursuit was terminated.

A short time later, police said Dike voluntarily pulled the vehicle over and was placed under arrest without further incident.

Police said further evidence was obtained linking Dike to the forged checks.

A passenger in the vehicle told officers Dike fled so he could get the vehicle to a family member's home so it wouldn't be impounded.

Dike was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center on suspicion of forgery. He also had two unrelated warrants.
