Coronation Street hinted at trouble on the way for Zeedan and Alya Nazir tonight (January 10) as their lies begin to unravel.

Following the death of Hashim (Vincent Ebrahim), the two brothers have been grappling with guilt over using the man's laundered money to put Speed Daal back in business.

Meanwhile, Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar) and his ex-wife (and Hashim's daughter) Marrium (Kiran Linda) have been patching things up, with Alya (Sair Khan) disapproving of their relationship.

"He won't be able to live with the lie," Alya told Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), referring to their involvement in Hashim's passing.

The situation turned really sour when Zeedan used the money to buy an industrial dishwasher from Bernie Winter's (Jane Hazlegrove) dodgy friend.

This led to Yasmeen (Shelley King) discovering the bag with the dirty cash that Zeedan had hidden in the attic.

"We need to tell gran the truth," Alya told Zeedan.

"Gran should know about the money," she continued, as Yasmeen was waiting for an explanation.

Zeedan and Alya then told their grandmother what had happened, admitting they helped Hashim to start the fire at the restaurant.

"We are opening a restaurant built on dirty money," Yasmeen told her grandkids in disbelief.

She also confronted Zeedan about having spied on her to launder the money, as well as being willing to let Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) take the blame for the fire.

"You would have let him go to prison," she said.

Later on, Alya and Zeedan found out that Yasmeen meant business. She had changed the locks of her house, kicking both of them out.

"She's throwing us out!" Alya screamed as Yasmeen threw their bags out of the window.

"You two are despicable," she said, before ordering her grandchildren to get out of her sight.

"Gran will come around soon," Zeedan told Alya, but will she?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
