CANCELED — The House of Happy Walls will ring with the sounds of romance when the Jack London Piano Club, a talented group of volunteers at Jack London State Historic Park, presents its Valentine’s Concert on February 13.

A variety of musical selections, all celebrating the power and magic of love, will be performed on Charmian London’s 1901 Steinway piano, located on the second floor the House of Happy Walls, Charmian’s former home and now the museum of Jack and Charmian’s life together in the Valley of the Moon.

Because the park is as much about nature as it is about history, the concert can be part of a full day of romance, beginning with a hike on the park’s 29 miles of scenic trails or a stroll through historic Beauty Ranch.  A free docent-led tour to the ruins of Wolf House will be offered at 11 a.m.

The Jack London Piano Club has presented concerts for the past ten years, raising more than $19,000 to benefit operations at the park.which is operated by a nonprofit organization and receives no public funding.

Even before she met Jack London, Charmian was an accomplished pianist.  She initially purchased the 1901 Steinway on an installment plan.  After receiving a hefty sum from his publisher, Jack gave Charmian $500 to finish payment and bring the piano to the ranch, where it became the center of entertainment for the London’s many guests.

Tickets are $20 per person including the parking fee (regularly $10 per car for up to nine passengers).

The performance space can be reached by stairway only.  The concert will be live streamed downstairs for those with limited mobility.  For more information about access, call (707) 938-5216.

Concert attendees must present proof of vaccination at the door (hard copy or digital version).  Masks will be required.

Seating is limited. To reserve tickets, visit https://jacklondonpark.com/events/valentine-concert-2022/.
