A new 18-story tower in Kendall Square built by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has landed a notable restaurant tenant: Row 34, which first made a name for itself as a seafood destination in the Seaport.
Row 34 will move into 314 Main St. this fall, joining office tenants Capital One and Boeing, the restaurant announced Monday. The building also hosts the MIT Museum and the MIT Press bookstore.
The oyster bar is a destination in Boston's Seaport District and has locations in Burlington and Portsmouth, N.H.
Row 34 said it hopes to eventually have the restaurant open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, with a robust private events program to meet needs of the Kendall Square community.
The building, which opened in 2020, is one of a series along Kendall Square’s main drag that MIT has developed for a range of uses as the neighborhood sees the highest per-square-foot lab space rents nationally, as well as some of the highest office prices.
MIT developed three buildings that opened in the past three years that include a mix of tenants and space for its own use. A new office building for Google at 355 Main St. across the street is also nearing completion.
