State health officials are changing COVID-19 protocols for healthcare workers. The California Department of Public Health says vaccinated healthcare workers who test positive for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic can go back to work right away without testing or isolating. This comes as hospitals face a critical staffing shortage because of the rise of the highly contagious Omicron variant. The change for healthcare staff became effective yesterday and will last until February 1st.
