TV show filmed in Durant debuts on ABC

We could see some severe storms in this part of central Mississippi this weekend. The National Weather Service has put the local area under a Level-1 “marginal risk” of damaging wind gusts and hail for both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s threat covers a larger part of Mississippi.

4:51 pm – Ethel Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Hill Street. One structure was endangered on the scene. 7:05 pm – Officials received a 911 call about a one car MVA on Attala Road 4167. Injuries were reported.

For the second day in a row, gas prices in Attala County have come down from their record high this week. AAA says the average price has dipped three and a half cents to $4.34– six cents lower than Wednesday’s peak of $4.40. But the auto club says pump prices in Leake and Neshoba counties continue to push upward slowly. The average price in Leake is now just over $4.30 and it’s slightly below $4.27 in Neshoba.

Everyone’s hopes and dreams couldn’t have been higher as the Kosciusko Lady Whippets took the field Saturday afternoon to play the final game for the 4-4A championship. Two extensive lightning and rain delays couldn’t dampen the spirits of our home team and all those who traveled for hours to support them.

The Kosciusko School District Board contracted with the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) to assist in the search for the new superintendent of the Kosciusko School District. A digital brochure advertising the superintendent vacancy and outlining the basic qualifications for the superintendent, which were set by the Board, was prepared by MSBA and posted online at the MSBA website with the application on May 6, 2022. MSBA sent an email to over 5,000 people on the MSBA mailing list announcing the search and requesting assistance in publicizing the vacancy. The vacancy announcement was sent to the National Association of Superintendent Searchers, which posted it on their website.
