A celebrity at the Farm Show.
Doctor Oz met with people on Sunday at the 2022 PA Farm Show with hopes that they will vote for him for U.S. Senate.
“People are a lot more optimistic than you would think reading the news,” Dr. Oz said. “I tell you it’s stunning, People really know what's going on in their lives.”
For hours, he roamed the halls, talked with vendors, and even held pigs.
When it comes to voters, he shook hands and posed for pics, but in some cases it didn't stop there.
"I just wanted a picture and he wanted to do a little bit more, so I like someone like that,” said PA resident Ron Scherer. “A guy who wants to hear everyone's thoughts.”
“I know people are worked up about inflation,” said Dr. Oz. “They are very worried about the schools and COVID.”
“When it comes to masks, how effective do you think they are when it comes to mandates and some of the rules that are out there?” asked CBS 21 News anchor Joel D. Smith.
“You have to be careful about mandates, because when you tell people to do something and you're not 100% sure on what you advise, people start to distrust the science,” said. Dr. Oz. “I think well-worn masks in appropriate settings, if you don't feel well, I think they make sense. They have to be medical masks, but probably putting masks on people outside or a place like this probably has negligible benefit.”
“I liked his TV shows, but I see him in a different light than politics, so I'm not certain yet,” said PA resident Courtney Shall.
He knows there are some still waiting to hear more, but he says his drive towards election day has just begun.
“Since I started campaigning about 6 weeks ago, I get more optimistic every day,” Dr. Oz said.
