YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) The Desert Lily Quilters made more than one hundred quilts as a way to give back to the community.

“It’s magical it’s like a wonderland of artwork. I just get excited every year,” said Fran Razmus, the Special Events Coordinator for Desert Lily Quilters.

The Desert Lily Annual Quilt show made a return this year.

Members of the local club created many different handmade quilts.

“It’s really nice you spend hours, sometimes months creating a quilt and you want people to see it and for me it’s like an art show. I mean these are work of art,” said Razmus.

Making these creations takes time but seeing the finished piece is rewarding.

“It gives you chills when you’ve done something exemplary or beyond what you thought you could ever do,” said Toni Quintana, a Desert Lily Quilter member.

Each year the club makes a special quilt to raffle off and all of the money raised from sold tickets goes to a charity of their choice.

“It’s just really neat, their club and a lot of other places in time over the years and it just helps us raise the bar,” said Justin Haile, the President of the 4th Avenue Gym Athletic Foundation.

The show also showcases international art from around the world with a unique theme this year honoring Princess Diana.

“For me that’s a big piece as to why I get enthused about the show,” said Razmus.

The Desert Lily Quilters have been doing this for about forty-year and are expected to continue for many more.
