Guadalupe Peraza & the American Classical Orchestra Present ‘Revisit: The Chaconne Project’ at Harlem Parish

By Afton Wooten

Mezzo-soprano Guadalupe Peraza and the American Classical Orchestra return to Harlem Parish to perform a live version of “Revisit: The Chaconne Project” on Feb. 3, 2022, at 7 pm.

The ensemble created a digital production of “The Chaconne Project” in 2020 in the same historic location.

ACO’s Artistic Director and Founder, Thomas Crawford leads the chamber ensemble. The program includes Baroque works featuring the Chaconne. The Chaconne is a genre that originated in the 16th century in Spanish culture as a dance and now can be recognized by its musical form of a repeating bass line. There will be ten examples of this in ACO’s upcoming concert.

Peraza is a Mexican mezzo-soprano who is active in both concert and opera performances worldwide. She has been a featured soloist with the New York Virtuoso Singers and with the majestic Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris in Mexico City. In 2016, she was named the “Mexican Woman of the Year.”

Ticket holders must show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 and abide by the guidelines to enter the building.
