According to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America over 280,000 Pennsylvanians are living with Alzheimer's disease.
The AFA wants to remind everyone to schedule their annual free memory screening.
"It is a series of questions that you do one on one with a screener and they are going to test your memory. Your recall, your language skills and at the end of the screening you get a score. If your score is above the baseline terrific, come back in a year if it is below the baseline the screener would suggest that you see your physician for more comprehensive evaluation. It does not diagnose any particular condition, but it is an important first step to detecting a memory problem ," AFA Director of Communications, Chris Schneider explained.
AFA wants us to remember not all memory problems are caused by Alzheimer's. Vitamin deficiency's, thyroid conditions, sleep apnea, anxiety and depression are some conditions that could effect your memory.
Screening appointments are offered virtually Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's and take approximately 10-15 minutes.
To schedule you can call AFA at 866-232-8484 or visit AFA’s website.
