'Lost Ark' Trailer Reveals 5 Minutes of Vibrant Gameplay From New RPG

Whether it's a university student prepping for your weekly tests and quizzes, or someone who is working in the office or at home on a 9 to 5 schedule during the weekdays, one thing both demographics are bound to have in common would be the constant yearning for holidays to arrive earlier. As luck would have it, everyone still has the weekends to be grateful for a short break from a hectic lifestyle. And a weekend is a perfect time period for binging these concise, yet highly memorable anime.

A new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder showed us many of the wonders hidden in the highly-anticipated sequel, including Jane’s (Natalie Portman) Mighty Thor upgraded powers, Christian Bale’s villain Gorr, and Chris Hemsworth fully naked. However, a blink-and-you-might-miss moment might also be teasing some of Marvel Comics' most powerful cosmic beings who are ready to jump into theaters. At a particular moment in the upcoming film, Jane will be channeling lightning in a dark hall filled with mysterious statues. Each of the five statues shown in the trailer represents a Marvel Comics cosmic entity, beings so powerful that they can bend reality to their will. But who are the five cosmic entities in the new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer? And what could their appearance mean for the MCU?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Season 1 Episode 4, "Momento Mori," introduces audiences to a terrifying and yet rarely explored villain, infamous in the world of Trek: the Gorn. When a rescue mission turns into a surprise attack, our heroes are thrown into chaos and several unlikely pairings must work together in order to save the crew and get themselves out of a dire situation. As an avid Star Trek fan, I would put "Memento Mori" down as one of the best episodes in the franchise. I'm actually shocked that the episode is only an hour as watching it feels like watching a feature film. The creative team of director Dan Liu and writers Davy Perez and Beau DeMayo do an incredible job of balancing intense action sequences with deep, emotional character moments — and the entire cast is firing on all cylinders as they deliver some series-best performances.

People have long been fascinated by the concept of parallel universes, with the 20th century seeing them become the subject of countless works of sci-fi and fantasy. Gradually, comic books and other works began to craft entire multiverses, which contained an infinite number of parallel universes. In recent years the concept of a multiverse has become more prevalent in film and TV, with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being one of the most recent examples.

Stranger Things is finally coming back with a supersized runtime and a story that is set to be grander than what we’ve seen before. As part of Star Wars Celebration, Respawn Entertainment revealed the official title and release window for the highly-anticipated sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Now called Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, the upcoming sequel will keep following the story of Cal Kestis, a young Padawan who must hide from the Empire after surviving Order 66. Unfortunately, Force-sensitive players everywhere will have to wait a little longer before playing the sequel, as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is expected to be released in early 2023.

There are few cinematic franchises as richly developed as The Lord of the Rings. Across the three installments of this epic film trilogy, boatloads of characters are introduced for the viewer to root for or to detest. For all intents and purposes, the Streaming Wars kicked off in 2007, when Netflix launched streaming video from its platform. As technology advanced and became increasingly affordable for the average household, the demise of Blockbuster Video in 2010 was proof-positive that the world had embraced streaming as the next evolution in home entertainment. New streaming sites, like Hulu in 2008, began popping up, some far more successful than others (Yahoo! View, we hardly knew ye), but Netflix would change the game again by launching its first foray into original programming, 2013's House of Cards. Serious contenders to the streaming throne, like Disney+, began to rise up around 2018, but Netflix was still the undisputed king of streaming.

Star Wars Celebration wasn't just relegated to a galaxy far, far away, as Lucasfilm and Disney+ also showcased some of their other fan-favorite projects. Namely, the studio unveiled the first look at Willow, the upcoming series based on the original film from 1988. Warwick Davis will return as the titular character, with Jonathan Kasdan (son of the legendary Lawrence Kasdan) developing the series alongside Wendy Mericle (Arrow, Desperate Housewives).

The Star Wars universe is about to get a lot more animated with the newly announced anthology series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. Fans of the Star Wars Expanded Universe may recognize that title as the comic book series that delved into stories of the Old Republic. The new series, which uses the same name, will serve as an anthology of Original animated shorts. Following the panel hosted by Amy Ratcliffe, the official Star Wars Twitter account revealed that the series will arrive on Disney+ sometime this fall.

Episode 15, “Miguel” aired closer to the end of the season. At first glance, this seems like an odd choice. It would appear that the priority at this stage in the game is to wrap up everyone’s story in a satisfying, neat bow. The ensemble of characters is shown years in the future, only allowing glimpses into how much their lives have changed. In this episode, however, Miguel (Jon Huertas) is taken back to boyhood, his early relationship with Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is revisited and, of course, his current battle with her Alzheimer’s is examined through a much more intimate lens. In fact, "intimate" is the word most appropriate to describe this deep dive into Miguel. It revitalizes a distinctly This Is Us form of storytelling: it connects audiences to every character involved in the episode and provides so much insight into the family that changed television forever.

Star Wars Celebration is bringing plenty of news from a galaxy far far away, but sandwiched in there as part of the Lucasfilm Showcase segment was a little series called Willow. As a follow-up to the 1988 cult classic adventure flick, the new Disney+ series brings back Warwick Davis' Nelwyn sorcerer to help a princess save her twin brother 200 years after banishing the evil Bavmorda. With a new trailer out that captures the epic scope of the new series, new life is flowing through the franchise, and one of the individuals responsible is Jonathan Kasdan.

Editor's note: The following contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4, Episodes 1-7.In the new season of Stranger Things, just about everything expands. There are more characters, more locations, and more of a willingness to dip into horror. It all serves the show well enough, making this fourth season the best since its debut. Yes, I am well aware that isn’t necessarily saying a whole lot following uneven prior seasons. Yes, what has been released thus far in this penultimate season is essentially seven feature-length movies that can often feel bloated. However, most of the central story works and the character dynamics of these scrappy kids grow, much like their hair, in some interesting ways. Unfortunately, there is still something that has remained the show’s biggest hindrance. It has only gotten worse through the seasons, proving to be its greatest narrative weakness.

Today at Star Wars Celebration, fans at the event got their first glimpse of The Mandalorian Season 3 in a brief, thrilling teaser for the latest installment in the spinoff series. At the Mando+ panel, showrunners Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni previewed the new season along with cast members Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Emily Swallow, Brendan Wayne, and Lateef Crowder.

Starz has just released a new teaser trailer announcing the second season of their series Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The new season will debut on Starz on August 14, 2022. Power Book III: Raising Kanan is the third installment of the Power universe. The series serves as an origin story for the fan-favorite character, Kanan Stark, and follows his entry into the criminal world in the 1990s. Viewers follow Kanan as he is introduced to a life of crime by his mother, the ruthless head of her family's drug empire. The series stars MeKai Curtis as Kanan, while Tony Award-winning Patina Miller plays the matriarch, Raquel "Raq" Thomas.

There are few feelings more primal than the spine-tingling suspicion that you're being watched. Nobody likes imagining prying eyes peering, possibly planning, as you try and survive a typical day. That’s the setup for IFC’s newest thriller Watcher. Currently rocking an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, this full-length feature debut is more than the sum of its story beats. It’s an exercise in how to tell a story. Opulent and ominous, Watcher premiered at the 2022 Sundance to strong reception that saw IFC and Shudder–both AMC-owned–partner to bring the film to theaters and screens across North America.
