Lost Ark has released a new trailer for the upcoming MMO on their official YouTube channel. This video fully introduces players to the game and its world, as well as the many features the game has to offer. The first thing the narrator talks about is the standard features most MMOs have: the ability to create your own character, learning new abilities and gaining new weapons as you level up, and the choice to either go through the game by yourself or with a party of friends.
We are then introduced to the classes you will be able to make: Warrior, Assassin, Mage, Gunner, and Martial Artist. Each class will have its own gameplay style, and as you progress in the game, you will be able to choose between 2-4 advanced classes for your character, making them more powerful and giving them access to new unique abilities. Something unique in Lost Ark is what they call its Tri-Pod system for abilities. This allows you to customize your abilities, which allows you to use skill points to acquire new skills and use them to further level any ability that you want. This means that there will be many possible ability combinations for players, making each character feel different from another one.
The video then goes into exploring the world of Arkesia. They explain that the world is under attack from demonic forces looking for the Ark, an artifact that keeps the universe in balance. It will be up to you to find the pieces of the Ark, acquire its power, and defeat the demon army. Sailing will be a big part of the game's exploration. You can customize the way your ship looks, hire your own crew to help take care of it, and sail it across the world to find new areas to explore. You will also be able to make a stronghold, which will be your own island fortress. This will act as your home base, as well as a fleet headquarters, and a crafting workshop. You can upgrade the fortress by gathering raw materials around the world, likely giving you more options for what you can do in your own base.
Finally, they talk about dungeons, raids, and PvP. The dungeons are described as "cinematic," and are where you can fight the greatest threats in Arkesia. Once you have cleared out dungeons, you will be able to access Chaos Dungeons, which will feature endless waves of enemies that you must fight through, and raids which will likely offer the game's biggest rewards. Unlike many MMOs, dungeons in Lost Ark can be completed either solo or with a party, with the dungeon's difficulty scaling with how many members you have. Something also worth noting is that the game does not feature the main roles most MMOs do: tank, healer, and DPS, meaning that there will be no class or class type required to complete dungeons. PVP allows you to fight other players, where you can customize your stats and abilities independently from your normal build.
Lost Ark is a free-to-play MMO, and will be available on February 11, 2022, as a Steam exclusive. While the game will be free, players will have the option to purchase various Founder Packs ahead of the release, giving them perks such as early access and exclusive pets.
