Coronation Street has had real-life family members acting alongside each other before, but the latest siblings to walk the Cobbles are Jack James Ryan and his big sister Rebecca Ryan.

Jack is returning as bad lad potentially turning good Jacob Hay, with Corrie producer Iain MacLeod revealing that he's "trying to redeem himself" from his past involvement with drugs.

Rebecca is playing Lydia Chambers, an ex of Sarah Barlow's husband Adam, and there's plenty of drama between the three to come.

Jack is "buzzing" that his sister is joining the cast, calling her a "stunning actor" and he thinks she's going to be a great addition to the Corrie cast.

"Honestly just [excited] beyond words! I was so buzzing when I found out she'd be joining the cast," he told Digital Spy and other press. "She was my biggest inspiration growing up – I wanted to be an actor since I can remember.

"And a big factor of that was because since my sister was 11, she's been on TV every week, from Shameless to Waterloo Road to Casualty, and now to this.

"It's just been incredible. And I'm incredibly biased, but I think she is a stunning actor, and I think she's going to make an impact. I know she's going to make a great addition to the cast."

He admitted he didn't give her any advice as she's already super experienced and he knew she'd fit right in.

"One of the best things about Corrie is that everyone's so nice, so welcoming. So I knew she'd just settle right in, but beyond that, I told her where the canteen was, the toilets, and then she was good to go."

When asked if he thought their characters would get on, he was pretty certain Lydia wouldn't be impressed with him, but he'd love to have a scene with her.

"It would so interesting to have a scene with Lydia. I don't think our storylines cross, sadly. But it would be so great to have a scene with Becky. And Mum would be dead proud that day!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
