Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio shared a new single, “Don’t Worry ‘Bout What I Do”, on Friday. The track will appear on the threesome’s forthcoming album, Cold As Weiss, out on February 11th via Colemine Records.

An instrumental band like DLO3 must find a way to communicate to audiences besides lyrics. Thus, the band’s new album is full of inside jokes. Even the title for the band’s third album is a welcoming poke at new drummer Dan Weiss, who will make his album debut on the new LP. The release’s lead single, “Pull Your Pants Up“, is a jab at guitarist Jimmy James, who is often harangued by the group on the elevation of his trousers. This latest single, “Don’t Worry ‘Bout What I Do”, is another homage to James.

“‘Don’t Worry ‘Bout What I Do’ is a famous quote by the great guitarist Jimmy James,” Lamarr said in a press release. “No matter what you say to this cat: ‘Yo bro your butt crack is showing,’ he always says the same thing: ‘Man… don’t worry ‘bout what I do.’”

Though he may be the butt of the joke, James is given his time to shine on the track. The expansive five-minute single gives Jimmy a luscious soundscape on which to sow his acid-jazz-infused licks, delivering fiery leads as Lamarr and Weiss keep it steady.
