Sheriff IDs Kansas man who died after ejected in 2-vehicle crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Authorities investigating a fatal Friday crash have identified the victim and 36-year-old Peder Simmons of Cheney.

According to Sedgwick County Sheriff's Lt. Benjamin Blick, a Toyota Camry driven by Simmons  was northbound on 295th Street West and entered the intersection without yielding to the crossing traffic on 21st Street North.

An eastbound Ford Focus driven by a 19-year-old man struck the Camry on the driver’s door. Simmons was ejected died at the scene, according to Blick.

EMS transported a 38-year-old female passenger of the Toyota Camry and the driver of the Ford to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Stop signs are posted at the intersection for north and southbound traffic on 295th Street West, according to Blick. The circumstances of the collisions are under investigation.
