The latest leaks suggest that Xiaomi will launch the upcoming "12 Ultra" as the Mix 5 Pro instead. Now, a new tip indicates that it will be the second flagship from the OEM to debut with one of its in-house image signalling processors (ISPs) - maybe even a new one. It might enhance the work of 3 high-end rear cameras.

According to the latest leaks, Xiaomi will not release a successor to the Mi 11 Ultra after all. However, a phone with its rumored top-end specs could make it to the market, albeit as a Pro variant of the Mix series. Now, the blog Xiaomiui claims that it will uphold its line's reputation for spearheading its OEM's mobile technology.

The site claims to have uncovered some "Mix 5 Pro" source-code. It pertains to its camera function, and apparently refers to a term ("MIPISEL") only heretofore seen in the first-gen Mix Fold. Therefore, as Xiaomiui surmises, it refers to the presence of a Surge C-series ISP.

Should this be the case, this proprietary image signalling processor (the development of which is a current Android OEM bragging right reserved for the most successful and resource-rich companies) might even be a new version - a Surge C2, perhaps.

It might help control a 50MP main rear camera with OIS, along with a 48MP 5X optical zoom telephoto lens (also with OIS) and a second 50MP sensor with 0.5x ultrawide-angle functions. Judging by the 12 series' new upgrades, one or more of these could be new CMOS from Sony such as the IMX707.
