A driver was seriously injured in an accident on New Hampshire Avenue this evening.
The accident happened shortly after 7:00 PM at the intersection of Pine Street and New Hampshire Avenue.
The driver was transported by Hatzolah to MMCSC with multiple injuries.
The accident was captured on a surveillance camera.
Hopefully the driver will be ok. People have got to learn that a red light means stop. Both drivers here clearly ran the red light.

The one turning thought he had the light because it was already red. He may end up being considered responsible by authorities because he should have realized that people do what the othr guy did, namely run a red.
(You can know he ran a red, by seeing when the light turns green for the waiting traffic)

I was in identical accident at that same intersection almost a year ago. I would like to propose a red turning arrow, i understand it’s somewhat inconvenient but we cannot trust lakewood drivers to not try to speed up to make the light, and go through red light. Beleive me, it’s a lot more convenient than spending a week in the ICU and months of therapy, if not worse.
If someone is already in intersection he may turn after light changes, either way I can’t see or understand this clip.
Driver’s need to figure things out on their own without adding additional traffic lights or stop signs or turning arrows. They won’t ameliorate anything.
