Danny Dyer is set to exit EastEnders as Mick Carter.
The actor has played the pub landlord since 2013, though the BBC has confirmed that he will be leaving Albert Square when his contract is up later in 2022.
An EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy in a statement: "Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year.
"Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character which we shall always be grateful for, however we won't be saying goodbye just yet as there's still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick – to come before he departs Walford."

EastEnders added that a huge storyline is being planned for his departure, with Danny making the decision to leave a while ago. The news was first broken by The Mirror.
Dyer first appeared on the soap in December 2013, entering as the son of established character Shirley Carter, and has been part of numerous plots over the last few years, including dealing with his wife Linda's (Kellie Bright) alcoholism and a sexual abuse storyline.
Most recently, Mick split with Linda, who is currently offscreen due to Kellie being on maternity leave.

Meanwhile, Danny recently opened-up about his plan to crack the US, admitting on his podcast Sorted with the Dyers that he would "still like to have a go at America".
He went on to joke: "Why the f**k not? Yes, I'm 44 and I've got a pair of tits."
Danny added: "I'd bring a little documentary crew with me and film the whole thing. And film the failures."
EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
