Spider-Man: No Way Home Almost Featured Major Doctor Strange 2 Character

We already know that Spider-Man: No Way Home is filled with surprise appearances from characters who already played big roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it looks like a new character was originally supposed to debut in the Marvel sequel. Newly-revealed concept art confirms that a major character from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was meant to show up and join the action in the third Spider-Man flick!

The Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art were created by digital artists Maciej Kuciara and Marek Okon and were supposedly made while the film was still in early development. Interestingly, one illustration features America Chavez with Peter Parker, MJ, Ned, and Betty Brant. Check it out below.

This is an awesome revelation considering that people have been hoping to see America Chavez in more than just one MCU film. It would also make sense that the character's big debut would be connected to the multiverse being opened.

So why was America Chavez's appearance in No Way Home ultimately removed? There is a possibility that the film already had too many major characters showing up and the studio decided to introduce the character in Doctor Strange 2 instead.

It's disappointing to know we almost got America Chavez in No Way Home but she was written out of the sequel. After all, she could have been a great help to Peter and his friends when things were getting crazy. Luckily, we'll finally get to see her in action when Doctor Strange 2 premieres later this year.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will bring back Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Elizabeth Olsen. Xochitl Gomez has been confirmed to play America Chavez in the sequel, which is scheduled for release on May 6, 2022.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is still screening in theaters.
