Earlier today, some Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art was revealed confirming that the movie was once set to feature America Chavez in a leading role. Chances are this was the plan for the threequel when it was still scheduled to be released after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with America responsible for bringing those other Spider-Men into the MCU.

It's also possible the artwork was created at a point when there weren't plans for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to return as their respective Peter Parker Variants, but the plot thickens here.

As we now know, America was once set to help Spidey battle the Green Goblin at the Statue of Liberty and the shot below shows how the web-slinger's fight with that iconic villain was first imagined. It seems it was always the plan to have Norman Osborn serve as Spider-Man: No Way Home's big bad, and even at this early stage, he had an overhauled costume without the classic mask.

That artwork comes our way from Marek Okon, but in Maciej Kuciara's contribution, the web-slinger is being pursued by Doctor Strange and clutching on to the same book America was wielding in those other concept pieces. Is it possible the Darkhold was once going to factor into this threequel?

Hopefully, we'll learn more about early plans for the movie as more concept art is revealed!

It has passed AoU and will pass Avengers 1 soon. After a big drop it got its legs back and instead of ending up closer to 700 domestic it’s looking closer to 800, so it may still pass the recent lion king and Jurassic world’s worldwide for 6th place.

Would have been nice to actually have gotten a proper aerial battle between the two.. idk why but I feel whenever there’s a battle or a fight in these MCU movies they almost always seem to rush through those parts as quickly as they possibly can. This goes for all MCU movies, just to think two years of production keeping fans waiting and 400 million dollars and they couldnt even manage to include just a minute long aerial fight between the two? Just a nitpick but it would be nice to see these comic book fights fully realized. Just wish all the cool fight cinematics werent only limited to video games since its all visual effects anyway. They can literally show anything

I wonder what this movie could've been if shot before the pandemic.

@TheHumanSpider2 - how do you mean? Like, monetarily or quality-wise?

@PapaSpank54 - Most of the movie is green screen, they couldnt get some of the actors back and had to re-use old footage, actors clearly not being on the same room in most of the scenes, Peter 1 and Peter 2 grand appareances happening on Ned's living room...

That would have been a nightmare. I already don’t want to see her in Doctor Strange. Marvel is whack for introducing characters less than 10 years old that have all done terribly.

Agreed, almost every decision they almost made was terrible. America Chavez? Tobey actually dying? At one point they even wanted to have more focus on Doctor Strange VS Peter, which was the weakest part of the film.

I love looking at concept art, some of it is just amazing. I always sit through the credits of The Mandalorion and The Book Of Boba Fett.
