The Central College basketball teams will make the three-hour trip northeast this afternoon to take on the Duhawks of Loras College.

The Central women’s basketball team will be looking to get back in the win column for the first time since December 7th when they defeated Concordia-Chicago 69-61. The Dutch have only played three games since, dropping all three including their most recent game to Wartburg on Wednesday in which they were without three guards and their head coach. Loras currently sits at fourth in the American Rivers Conference standings with a 2-1 conference record and an 8-4 overall record.

The Central men’s basketball team will also look to right the ship as their last win came on November 27th against Northland (Wis.) 76-52. The Dutch have fallen in five straight including Wednesday’s close 80-75 loss to the top team in the American Rivers Conference Wartburg. While Kade Terrell led the Dutch with 19 points on Wednesday, the offense has commonly relied on sophomore center Josh Van Gorp, and Head Coach Craig Douma tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that his team is looking for ways to get the offense flowing.

“That balance is still important, you can’t just be about one guy. But teams are trying to front and do different things so we’ve got to try and create situations where we can take away the weak side help or take away the opportunity to front and punish you and take away that weak side help so you can’t front and try different things like that.

Today’s women’s and men’s doubleheader between Central and Loras can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS beginning with pregame coverage at 1:45 pm, followed by tip-off of the women’s game at 2 pm.
