Marvel's Hawkeye series on Disney+ brought back the Kingpin from the Daredevil series, causing many fans of the Marvel Netflix shows to rejoice.

But his return has elicited some criticism, partly because it was teased too heavily and ruined the surprise, and apparently also because he was 'too strong' in his fight with Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop.

Responding to those critiques, actor Vincent D'Onofrio told the ComicBook Nation podcast: "You know I learned recently, a couple of the fans, they were very excited about it, they were commenting about the strength that I have.

"Because I'm throwing Kate [Bishop] around and stuff. But, I totally forgot. I just saw a clip on Twitter of me and Charlie [Cox] fighting in [Daredevil's] first season. Obviously, [Steven DeKnight is] an incredible director. He helped develop the character of Wilson Fisk.

"There's a scene that we shot on an alley, in a street in Brooklyn, where I'm literally throwing Daredevil through the air," he continued. "Like, I'm picking him up and swinging him 15 feet into a garbage can. I do it a few times in that fight. It's no different, it's really not.

"So, I keep saying that it's the same Fisk that was in Daredevil. It's the same canon, but people get confused about things. I understand."

Although there may be some contradictions (that are almost inevitable with something as big as the MCU), it's good to know that the Netflix shows are being treated as part of the canon. Now we just need to know whether Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes in Sony's continually-delayed Morbius is the same one from the MCU Spider-Man films with Tom Holland.
