First all-Intel NUC “Alder County” gaming laptop kit with Alder Lake-P CPU and ARC Alchemist dGPU launching in Q2 2022

Intel’s NUC series initially started out as a mini PC solution back in 2013, yet it expanded into laptop territory with the introduction of the “laptop kit” design in 2021. As of now, Intel is offering three NUC laptop kits: the M15 (Bishop County) powered by Tiger Lake-U processors, the X15 (King County) sporting Tiger Lake-H processors coupled with Nvidia RTX 3060/3070 dGPUs, and the P14E (Camden County) featuring the Tiger Lake U-series Compute Element. This year, Intel plans to refresh all models with Alder Lake-based specs.

According to French Publication Impact Hardware, the X15 model will be refreshed with an Alder County successor powered by Alder Lake-P processors. The Alder County codename was also just confirmed by Intel’s latest presentation at CES 2022. Besides the new processors, this model is believed to include Intel ARC Alchemist dGPUs, so it will be the first all-Intel premium gaming laptop kit. Impact Hardware also informs that Alder County will get a 15.6" screen with 1080p resolution (120 / 144 Hz) or 1440p resolution  (165 Hz). The integrated battery will no longer be a 95 Wh model and instead will feature 46 Wh or 62 Wh variants depending on the display.

The M15 model will also be refreshed with a "Rooks County" successor that adds LPDDR5 and Wi-Fi 6E support, plus there will also be a vPro CPU option with an M15V model. Intel will only provide an upgraded Compute Element for the P14E models.

All new Alder Lake laptop kits are expected to launch in Q2 2022.
