VIDEO: Hidden San Diego Estate Modeled After Monte's Garden In France

An elaborate compound located 26 miles north of San Diego in Rancho Santa Fe called Villa Nafissa has 40 acres of park-like grounds, waterfalls, a private lake, and gardens designed to evoke Claude Monet's famous water garden in Giverny, France.

The estate is now listed for sale at $35 million, according to Forbes. Villa Nafissa is tucked away by gates and a cresting hillside that surrounds it.

“A couple of times, I’ve gotten lost walking the property,” Jerome Kerr-Jarrett of Hilton & Hyland told Forbes. “I can’t quite remember where the fire pit area is; you have to go down a couple of different pathways to find it.”

Beyond the whimsical outdoor space, the main residence is about 16,000 square feet and was custom built to look over the lake and garden below it.
