The award-winning cast of the “Golden Gals” is continuing its tribute to TV Land.
Ginger Minj (RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars contestant) portrays Ginger Grant in the world premiere of “Gilligan'z Island” at the Clermont Performing Arts Center.
Ginger grew up in Leesburg and “worked in every community theater (he) could find.” But eventually, he says, he “just kinda ran out of roles that fit my type.”
So enter the drag world. About 16 years ago at Orlando Fringe, a particular play had roles requiring the actors to either be nude, or to get in drag. Ginger chose the latter. “I was like, my mother will never forgive me if I get naked on stage.”
Ginger's castmates include Doug Ba’aser (Skipper), MRMS Adrian (Gilligan), Mary Anne (Gidget Galore), Divine Grace (the Professor).
Showtimes are Jan. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m., and Jan. 9 at 3 p.m. at CPAC.
