Amazon Studios’ Fallout TV series looks to be moving ahead, with more big names getting attached to the project. A new report highlights several names now attached for the stream adaptation, and that production is set to start this year.

Deadline reports that Westworld co-creator Jonathan Nolan has been locked in as director of the series premiere. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, meanwhile, are set to be showrunners on the Fallout TV series.

The Amazon Studios and Kilter Films series is being made in association with Bethesda. Nolan is also onboard as an executive producer alongside fellow Westworld creator Lisa Joy, Athena Wickham, and Bethesda’s James Altman and Todd Howard.

Originally announced back in July 2020, this is a nice step forward for the Fallout TV series. No info’s been shared yet about the plot specifics of this television adaptation; I’m particularly curious whether they’ll create an original story in the Fallout universe, or if the series will look to recreate one of the pre-existing Fallout games.

It’s at least some exciting news for fans who want more of this universe, as it doesn’t seem like there’s anything on the horizon for Fallout aside from more 76. Bethesda is currently working on Starfield and then likely headed into Elder Scrolls VI, and no new Fallout game has been announced yet.

Hopefully the Fallout series turns out as well as some recent video game adaptations have. Netflix’s Arcane, a League of Legends show, ended up being pretty dang good and there’s also obviously The Witcher series. It’s a pretty golden time for video game adaptations and a lot of studios seem to be picking up their own properties to work on. We’ll see how Fallout turns out as it heads into production this year.
