The GR Yaris is a truly exceptional car as is, but the three-cylinder subcompact's potential is massive. Tuners have already reached 473 horsepower from the 1.6-liter motor's stock internals, after all. It seems Toyota is ready to jump in the make-the-GR-Yaris-faster game with its own entry, teasing a "fully tuned" GR Yaris concept for next weekend's Tokyo Auto Salon.

Is this the even more aggressive GR Yaris variant Toyota tested at the Nurburgring back in June? Possibly. The company's release refers to it only as "the fully tuned mode for the GR Yaris," but the teaser photo shows a faint outline of the more aggressive front and rear aerodynamic elements shown on the test car last summer. This particular car also seems to have added a massive hood indent, a fitting hallmark of a top-of-the-line rally homologation special.

Toyota Gazoo Racing will also debut the GR GT3 concept, a "racing-dedicated concept car" with no clear immediate future. Toyota currently races a Lexus RC-F in the GT3-based GTD class in IMSA, so this could be the first look at its successor based on an existing Toyota model. While it could be hiding a significantly altered Supra, the silhouette seems to indicate that this is a unique design concept meant to showcase the idea of how Toyota views GT racing's future more so than any specific racing plans for an existing car.

The Tokyo Auto Salon runs from the 14th through the 16th of January, so expect answers on both cryptic teasers in the near future.
