Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to receive a sequel, according to Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb. On the latest episode of the GrubbSnax podcast, Grubb stated that the title, developed by Respawn Entertainment, would be announced later on this year, and that there is a “chance” the title may release in before the end of 2022.

Grubb stated we should “expect to hear about the game in a significant way before E3”, which opens the door for speculation as to when we’re likely to get the first look at the title. May 4th is, of course, Star Wars day, and that might well be the slot opted for to unveil the title. Star Wars Celebration 2022 also saw its dates moved from August to May, which would allow Respawn to announce the title to a live audience, as they did with the original title in 2019. Furthermore, Summer Game Fest organizer, Geoff Keighley, announced that the E3 rival would return in 2022, albeit with no firm date.

The suggestion of a 2022 release is also intriguing, however, Grubb did caveat that statement by stating the title would more likely be released in early 2023. Jedi: Fallen Order managed a November 2019 release, and managing that slot in 2022 would put it right in the “holiday” release window.

It’s certainly a busy time for Star Wars gamers, with a slew of upcoming titles announced. A highly controversial title from Heavy Rain developer, Quantic Dream, was announced during The Game Awards, and The Division developer, Ubisoft Massive, has been confirmed to be working on their own Star Wars title. Among that, a remake of the beloved Knights of the Old Republic, developed by port maestro’s Aspyr, was announced during Playstation’s September 2021 Showcase.

We really enjoyed the original Jedi: Fallen Order back in 2019, and the prospect of returning to the side of Cal, Greez, Cere, and BD-1, is hugely welcomed. Stick to Dork Side of the Force for more as it’s announced!
