This Morning has confirmed when Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will be returning to the show following their Christmas break.
For the last couple of weeks, Josie Gibson, who made her presenting debut when Willoughby fell ill back in November, and Vernon Kay have been filling in for the duo while they enjoy the festive period.
On Tuesday, January 4, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary took over, as Willoughby and Schofield's holiday was extended. Now, ITV has revealed, in an advert that aired during Wednesday's edition of the daytime show, that the twosome will be back on screen from Monday, January 10.
"Are they surprised we're back?" O'Leary laughed in today's episode, to which Hammond replied: "Everyone's surprised! You're no more surprised than we are to be back!"
"Are Holly and Phil still off? #ThisMorning I had less time off after an operation," one viewer wrote on Twitter, reacting to the news of Willoughby and Schofield's newly added vacation days.
Another asked: "Are Holly & Phil ever coming back to #ThisMorning or [do] they have holidays forever!!!"
Last month, while appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, Willoughby shut down "unfair" and "untrue" rumours that she was retiring, explaining that she felt "very lucky" to have her This Morning gig.
"I never think like that," she noted. "The show changes so much, I think that's the beauty of This Morning.
"Recently it's had the highest ratings it's had in 15 years. It's doing really, really well, which is extraordinary for a show that's been around for as long as it has. I think that show has something to teach us a little bit; as long as we keep evolving and changing and moving on and happy to flow with things..."
This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV.
