Frame Deconstructs Denim in New Collection

Mastering the rules of design before breaking them is the backbone of fashion, and Frame’s latest program lives up to the challenge.

The premium denim brand recently bowed Atelier of Denim, a line of richly hued deconstructed styles that brings an artisanal hand-crafted feel to Frame’s denim collection. With interesting and intricate seaming, flattering arched and curved seams and exposed interior construction details, the pieces are designed to be a unique and fresh addition to Frame’s expansive range of clean washes and everyday staples.

Frame’s deconstructed theme echoes recent trends seen in runway collections. For Spring/Summer 2022, Versace presented mixed-media denim and silk scarf jackets and jeans. Romeo Gigli paired denim with gabardine, while Marine Serre created pink and purple color-blocked dresses and jackets. Meanwhile, Dsquared2 created jeans out of a collage of denim swatches.

Highlights in the women’s collection include the “Inside Out” jean and short, which brings attention to details like pocketing and uneven hemlines. To make the Enzo wash jacket, the brand split the jacket in half and then flipped and sewed it to another for an inverted effect. The cropped Fresco jacket and jeans boast a marble-like wash, enhanced by unconventional seaming, while a front slit draws attention to the Reconstructed midi skirt’s two-tone construction.

Men’s pieces include indigo and black color-blocked button-down shirts and straight leg jeans made from two pairs of Frame jeans. The brand’s reconstructed denim jacket and jeans take a subtle approach to artisan details by featuring a light blue wash on the front and a darker blue panel on the back.

All fabrics in the collection feature 100 percent cotton or a cotton and organic cotton blend. Retail prices range from $278-$398.

More styles will launch in Summer 2022, according to a brand rep.

Atelier of Denim is another example of how Frame is updating its core collection with small capsule collections. The brand introduced a collaboration with stylist Ilona Hamer last month consisting of high straight jeans, button-down shirts and oversized trousers and blazers. Frame also bowed a line of jeans, sweatshirts, sweaters and jackets with the legendary hotel Ritz Paris.
