Get ready to bag some serious loot in Apex Legends’ new undersea-themed event, Dark Depths. But the Dark Depths event isn’t the only new content slated to debut in the forthcoming update. Read on to learn about all the new content coming to Apex Legends in Dark Depths, including the skins, rewards, and more.

Dark Depths: Event Cosmetics

While this isn’t a Collection Event (meaning there will be no Heirloom weapon released alongside this event), you can still snag some sweet themed Legendary character skins from the store. Here’s the confirmed cosmetics coming to Dark Depths so far:

– Ash’s ‘Denizen of the Deep’ skin
– Fuse’s ‘Broseidon’
– Horizon’s ‘Overfloater’
– Lifeline’s ‘My Wave’

The Dark Depths cosmetics should all available to purchase for 1800AC

Dark Depths: Weekly Free Reward Tracks, New Event Packs

Similar to previous events, Dark Depths will be split into 3 free reward tracks – one for each week of the event.

January 11th – 18th: Dark Depths load screen, 2 Apex Packs, Epic-tier universal holospray, 25 crafting metals, 19 Battle Pass stars.

January 18th – 25th: 1 Apex pack, 1 Dark Depths Apex Pack, Epic-tier Valkyrie holospray, 50 crafting metals, 19 Battle Pass stars

January 25th – February 1st: Epic-tier Alternator skin, Epic-tier Revenant holospray, Epic-tier Revenant Skin, 25 crafting metals, 23 Battle Pass stars

Players who complete all 3 reward tracks will gain a total of 75 crafting metals and 61 Battle Pass stars, so depending on how many Battle Pass stars they currently have, players are guaranteed to gain at least 6 Battle Pass levels.

New Event Packs & Store Bundles, Dark Depths Cosmetics Join Item Pool

Similar to previous events, the store will also have Dark Depths-themed bundles, along with bundles containing cosmetics from past events. The first round of cosmetics and bundles will be available from January 11th – 18th, before the lineup changes for the remainder of the event, from January 18th to February 1st.

Bundle Prices range from 2150AC to 40000AC, and players will be able to purchase the bundle featuring the new ‘Siren Song’ R-99 will be available for the entirety of the event.

But unlike previous events, Dark Depths Thematic Event Packs will be available for 400AC, and will guarantee the player a non-duplicate item from the Dark Depths cosmetic pool. However, Respawn does seem to be following the trend they started with the Halloween event: Dark Depths items will join the permanent cosmetic pool, meaning players will be able to craft them and get them from regular Apex Packs once the event is over.

New Arenas Map: Habitat, Arenas Flash Events

Technically called Habitat 4, the new Habitat map is nested in a former IMC research base located on the smallest of a series of islands off the coast of Storm Point.

Habitat 4 is best known as a breeding ground for Leviathans (the lumbering gentle giants hanging around Kings Canyon and occasionally stepping on Mirage), so squads will presumably be safe from Prowlers as they face off on this map.

Primed with a waterfall and some slick, steep inclines, Habitat 4 is the perfect oasis for slides and speedy escapes. Points of interest include the Cave and the Nest. The Cave is a small, waterlogged space for mid- to close-range encounters, while the Nest is better for mid- to long-range combat, as the Leviathan eggs within and provide both a safe refuge to hide behind and a perfect vantage point.

Stay alert for Ash’s weekly Arenas Flash Events for the remainder of the season, and be sure to keep an eye out for any Pathfinders, Valkyries, or Horizons who may be lurking within the Nest, just waiting to nail you with a Bocek arrow.

When Does the Dark Depths Event Begin?

The Dark Depths Event begins January 11th, 2022 and lasts until February 1st, 2022. The Habitat is presumably a permanent addition that will join the Arenas map rotation after the event ends. A total of 40 Dark Depths items will join the permanent item pool at the end of the event, and after two seasons pass, the cost of crafting these items will then be reduced to the customary 1200 crafting metals.

Apex Legends is free to play on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
