Creighton Man Charged With Murder Waives Preliminary Hearing

A Creighton man charged with child abuse and manslaughter after his son’s death last year waived his preliminary hearing in Knox County Court Thursday morning.

29-year-old Stephen Davis had his case bound over to District Court where he will face charges stemming from the death of his four-month-old son Ender Lee Davis.

On Jan. 13th of 2021, first responders were sent to a Creighton residence for reports of an infant that was unresponsive. When EMTs arrived at the scene, they started providing aid to Ender, before transporting him to a local hospital. Court documents state Ender was pronounced dead later that day at Avera Creighton Hospital.

A report from the Creighton Police Department says blood could be seen around the residence when first responders arrived at the scene. Edward told police the blood was from his son who was teething at the time and had recently fallen from the couch while the two of them were sleeping.

Following Ender’s death, his body was sent to the Douglas County Morgue for an autopsy. The autopsy report discovered Ender’s body had multiple signs of abuse, and the cause of death was determined to be blunt force injury to the head, neck and torso.

Davis’ district court appearance will be January 25th at 9:00 AM. Bond was continued in the amount of fifty thousand dollars.
