ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos' two starting outside cornerbacks will be held out of Denver's season finale against the Chiefs, Head Coach Vic Fangio announced Thursday.

Both Pat Surtain II (calf) and Ronald Darby (shoulder) will not play against Kansas City. Denver will also be without safety Kareem Jackson, who was placed on IR earlier this week.

"He's got, unusually, two calf injuries," Fangio said of Surtain. "Obviously one in each leg. One is worse than the other. … At any point in the season, he probably would miss two, three games."

Fangio said starting defensive end Shelby Harris and reserve cornerback Nate Hairston would both be questionable for Saturday's game. Neither player has tested positive for COVID-19, but Fangio said the two players have been sick. Neither Harris nor Hairston practiced on Thursday.

Quarterback Drew Lock (right shoulder) was among the players who was not given an injury designation, which means he will be available to play on Saturday. Lock was a full participant in Thursday's practice, as were Noah Fant (quad), Melvin Gordon III (thumb/hip), Shamar Stephen (quad) and Javonte Williams (knee). Fant, Gordon, Stephen and Williams were also not assigned game statuses.

Denver also hopes to regain kicker Brandon McManus and punter Sam Martin, who are on the team's Reserve/COVID-19 list. Fangio said General Manager George Paton and Director of Player Personnel Darren Mougey have worked on a contingency plan if McManus or Martin is unable to return in time for the game. The Broncos listed the pair of players as questionable.
