Hollyoaks has teased that Becky Quentin and Ollie Morgan are behind the explosion that will rip through the village later this week.

Thursday's (January 6) first-look episode saw the two take their protest of the Dee Valley Hospital Heroes ceremony too far, with flash-forward scenes showing the flames blazing at the Salon du The and lives in danger.

Becky continued filling Ollie's head with misinformation, telling him all of the doctors, nurses and other residents would be "prepped, primed and ready" to hear their message at the event.

"Marnie is not going to know what's hit her," Becky warned.

Ollie was so blinded by Becky's conspiracy theories that he rejected his aunt Zara, branding her "sad and lonely" once she warned him that his new girlfriend would "destroy" his life.

They took the protest to the hospital itself, steps away from the Salon du The, where Romeo confronted them but he couldn't get through to his old friend Ollie.

Ollie even rejected Cindy's attempts to bring him home, as he cruelly told her Becky and Henry are his "family now". This is when events started to spiral out of control with a flash-forward to the evening.

After kicking Becky and Ollie out of the event, Marnie was still upset to find out residents were planning to avoid her ceremony because of the controversy.

Marnie grabbed Romeo's iPad to go live on social media, showing the troublemakers had been ejected. However, Becky and Ollie were in full view on camera behind her arguing what they would do next.

Ollie wanted to pack it in because he'd already missed his sentencing for the protest. When he refused to escalate the situation, Becky pulled a smoke bomb out of her bag and hurled it towards Marnie.

The camera stayed on Ollie and Becky's perspective as they gasped in horror when a large explosion could be heard. Viewers know that this explosion will test relationships, put lives on the line and change the village forever.
