Hundreds gathered at the Capitol Plaza Hotel Thursday morning for the Governor's annual prayer breakfast.
The breakfast is an interfaith event held every year at the beginning of the legislative session.
Tickets sales support the Governor’s Student Leadership Forum on Faith and Values which funds a three day study for a group of Missouri college juniors.
Governor Parson spoke at the event and encouraged legislators to follow their faith during the 2022 session.
"And I get to think of all the challenges we have in this country and in this state today and you just have to go right back to where we were. Go back to your faith, go back to true leadership and follow the path," Parson said.
The featured speaker at the event was the Reverend John Modest Miles, the pastor at Morning Star Baptist Church in Kansas City.
Two years ago U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson, was the featured speaker at the prayer breakfast.
