Update: Police identify driver who died in fatal crash on 16th Street

Large section of 16th street was closed to traffic

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The one death has been reported as 59-year-old Cherié Boyle.


Update: 12:45 p.m.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Police officials sent out a press release providing more information on the recent crash.

A 60-year-old woman in a Toyota FRS made a left-hand turn on 16th Street when a Chevy Cruze, driven by a 20-year-old woman, crashed into her.

The Toyota spun onto the other lane and was hit by a Semi truck.

The woman in Toyota was pronounced dead, while the driver of the Chevy Cruze was transported to YRMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

Impairment by alcohol does not appear to be involved.


YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - Three vehicles were involved in a serious crash on 16th Street in Yuma Thursday morning.

A Yuma Police Department Officer on-scene told KYMA a car was turning left off of Gateway Drive and got crushed by another vehicle.

The driver of the car turning left was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center and their condition, as well as the condition of the other drivers involved, is currently unknown.

16th Street was closed to traffic east of South Avenue B to about South 14th Street.

The crash is currently under investigation.
