VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2022 is just a few weeks away, and teams are already stepping up their preparations for the second official season of the pro circuit. But on Wednesday, North American team Evil Geniuses (EG) announced they are parting ways with three players. This means they will be scampering to build a new VALORANT roster in time for the competition. Brandon “BRANTED” Ballard, Daniel “roca” Gustaferri, and Nolan “Temperature” Pepper have all made their exits from the org.

The official announcement came after rumors leaked earlier this week that EG had not practiced with BRANTED and roca. The two had joined EG back in June 2021, when the team underwent its first major roster shuffle. Back then, the squad had only consisted of Temperature, who had been part of EG since the start of the year, as well as Christine “potter” Chi.

Potter eventually went on to become the head coach for the team in August. A month later, Temperature also stepped away from the main EG lineup in a loan move to Gen.G. There, he competed in NA's Last Chance Qualifier. However, Gen.G failed to make it through the LCQ to grab a VCT Champions berth, as Cloud9 took the region's last slot at the international year-end tournament.

The departing trio also had a rocky season with EG, having not won anything of significant value. They were runners-up at the VALORANT Midwest Showdown last month, but had disappointing performances in the more meaningful VCT competitions. This leaves EG's roster with just two players: Kelden “Boostio” Pupello and Mike “pho” Panza.

VCT 2022 kicks off on January 27, but who EG fields for the competitive tournament remains to be seen. For more updates about the roster shuffle in the VALORANT scene, check out our tracker here.
