Getting Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2
At the time of writing, it’s not possible to download Boneworks directly onto your Oculus Quest 2. There also doesn’t appear to be any plans from the developer to bring Boneworks to the wireless VR headset. Instead, the developer is currently at work on a new project that will take the framework of Boneworks and put it into use in an entirely new game for Oculus Quest 2.
The only comment regarding this new project from the developer was a progress update shared on Twitter back in May, 2021 where it was revealed the development team was playing through builds of what it intended to show and film. No further update on the project has been shared since.
While this might all sound like bad news, there is a silver lining. As long as you’ve got a PC capable of playing VR games, you’re able to play Boneworks with your Oculus Quest 2 via Oculus Link or Air Link.
Playing Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2 via Quest Link Cable
To play Boneworks via the Link cable, follow the below steps:
- Open the Oculus app on your PC. You can download it here if you don’t already have it.
- Turn on your Oculus Quest/ Quest 2.
- Plug your Oculus Link cable into a USB 3.0 port on your PC, and the other end into the USB-C slot on the side of your Oculus Quest headset.
- When you’re given a message on your Quest 2 to ‘Enable Oculus Link,’ select the option to ‘Enable’ and you’ll then be taken to the Oculus PC home screen on your Quest headset.
- Choose Boneworks from your library and you can begin playing.
Playing Boneworks via Oculus Air Link
- Open the Oculus app on your PC.
Make sure that both your Oculus Quest headset and PC are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- On your PC, go to ‘Settings’ in the Oculus app, navigate to the ‘Beta’ tab and ensure the ‘Air Link’ option is checked.
- Go to the ‘Settings’ on your Oculus Quest and select the ‘Air Link’ option.
- Select your PC when it appears in the list and launch Air Link.
- Choose ‘Boneworks’ from your Oculus library and load it up.
