New leak suggests the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a massive battery

Now that the Galaxy S21 FE and OnePlus 10 Pro have been revealed, all eyes are turning back to Samsung for the next big smartphone announcement. The Galaxy S22 lineup could be introduced in the next month or so, and we’ve been seeing quite a few leaks and renders regarding the Galaxy S22 Ultra, specifically.

The latest leak confirms pretty much what we already expected when it comes to the specs, however, it seems that Samsung might finally be pushing the envelope again in the battery department. For the last few years, Samsung has played it safe in terms of battery size and charging speed. But the Galaxy S22 Ultra could change all of that.

This latest leak comes from @xeetechcare and reveals the spec-sheet for what the Galaxy S22 Ultra will offer. Here’s a run-down:

• Display: 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X (3080 x 1440)
• Processor: Exynos 2200
• RAM: 8GB / 12GB
• Storage: 128GB / 256GB / 512GB
• Front Camera: 40MP, f/2.2
• Rear Cameras:
  • Ultra Wide: 12MP f/2.2, Dual Pixel AF
  • Wide: 108MP f/1.8, OIS, “Super Clear Lens”
  • Tele: 10MP f/2.4, 3x, Dual Pixel AF, OIS
  • Tele 2: 10MP f/4.9, 10x, Dual Pixel AF, OIS
• Battery: 5,000mAh
• Colors: Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, Burgundy

There are two main takeaways from what appears to be a portion of an official slide from Samsung. The first of which is the 5,000mAh battery that Samsung could be including. We’ve seen Galaxy phones released with similarly-sized batteries recently, but the company’s flagship lineup has not seen one of this size in some time. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of what kind of charging speeds Samsung will offer. However, we are hoping and keeping our fingers crossed that it will be much faster than the current 25W “fast” charging speeds offered by Samsung flagships.

The other takeaway from this slide is the “Super Clear Glass” which will cover the middle camera. In the slide that is shared, you can see that it will use Gorilla Glass to cover the lens, which we assume will provide clearer images and will reduce any potential reflections or glare.

The rest of the spec sheet for the Galaxy S22 Ultra is pretty much what we expected to see already. The Exynos 2200 will handle the heavy-lifting in most of the regions that the phone is released in, and is built on the 4nm process. Those here in the States will see a version released using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

Pretty much all that remains now is for Samsung to make the official announcement, and open the floodgates for pre-orders to begin.
