Wife Pays off Husband's Student Loan Debt, Shares Christmas Day Surprise in Viral Video

A TikToker's video has gone viral after she paid off her husband's student loan debt, revealing the news in a Christmas surprise. The video has received a lot of attention online from viewers since its upload on Christmas.

Jayla Henry, who is an influencer, content creator, and mother of two children, recently shared the video on TikTok via her handle @jaylabrenae5. In the video viewed more than 437,000 times, Jayla's husband opened up a gift in wrapping paper that was also in a gift bag. The song LoFi Christmas played by Jake Giddens during the clip.

Her husband wore festive pajamas while sitting on a couch as he opened up his gift, which was a pair of shoes with the words "Debt-Free" on them.

"Debt-free?" her husband questioned.

"Yeah," the TikToker responded. "I want you walking around debt-free." The words also appeared on the screen.

She handed him the phone with a recording of her conversation while paying off his student loan debt with Sallie Mae, revealing the details via text on the screen.

Someone on the phone from Sallie Mae said, "Congratulations to him," mentioning he's "a lucky guy."

Her husband appeared to get emotional, grabbing his face with a hand as his wife finished her conversation with the loan officer on the phone. "This has been a desire of both of our hearts," the screen read. "Merry Christmas babe!"

Her husband got up to embrace his wife, and the video next showed a screenshot of all his loans being paid in full. The short 43-second clip had people buzzing, and many appreciate what the TikToker did for her husband. Over 70,000 people have liked the post so far.

Jayla also shared the video on Instagram, revealing they wanted to enter 2022 "closer to being completely debt-free." Little did her husband know she'd been saving to pay off the debt. "As we had been chipping away at it, he didn't know I had been saving for this very moment all year," she wrote. "You are student debt-free baby, and we are a step closer to being a debt-free family!"

According to the Federal Reserve, in quarter three of 2021, there was $1.75 trillion in student loan debt in the United States. Education Data Initiative reported that 43.2 million borrowers have student loan debt at an average of $39,351.

Many viewers are praising the TikToker for paying off her husband's debt. "Girl," one viewer said. "You are one hell of a life partner."

One user admitted to "crying" while watching the video, saying they "dropped out and have so many loans." They also added, "You're amazing for this."

Other viewers had comments like "Congrats! I hope y'all prosper."

"This is amazing," another viewer said.

Some people had jokes, like one TikToker who asked, "Did he get you off Amazon?"

However, one viewer admitted that those that pay off student loans actually "annoy" them, adding there are "so many programs and ways to get them deleted and forgiven, like research people."

The video gave one viewer the "chills," revealing, "this is the best gift I've seen all day."

One TikToker put it simply: "That's love."
