Marvel's Ironheart Rumored to Feature Character Connected to Iron Man Villain

One of the upcoming MCU shows that are in the works is Ironheart which will focus on Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man, with Dominique Thorne playing the role. Little is still known about the plot details of the series, but a rumor has recently emerged which suggested that it might connect to the very first MCU film.

According to The Illuminerdi, Ironheart might feature a character who is the son or daughter of Obediah Stane, the villain in Iron Man played by Jeff Bridges. The character is described as someone in their 40s, brilliant, and comedic which would be similar to Iron Man 2 villain Justin Hammer. It is also said that the character is hiding some secrets.

We do have to take note that this is all just a rumor for now as the information didn't come from the major trades nor announced by Marvel so we have to take it with a grain of salt. If it is true though, as the report suggested, it sounds like the character might be the MCU iteration of Zeke Stane. In the comics, the character is a genius inventor and manipulative villain who lives off the grid. He is also the enemy of Iron Man and seeks vengeance for the death of his father.

It does make sense if Obediah Stane's child will be making an appearance in the series. Ironheart seems to be heading to become an Iron Man-esque series given the nature of the character. However, given that Tony Stark already died, it is likely that Riri's mentor will be someone who was connected to Tony like Rhodey, Happy Hogan, or Pepper Potts. With the character being set as the next Iron Man, there is a narrative way for the younger Stane to make an appearance and become the antagonist. We will find out soon enough if the rumor is true or not.
