General Motors is officially owning the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) despite the fact it's not there in person. No matter. Along with the reveal of the Chevrolet Silverado EV and our glimpse of both the Blazer and Equinox EVs due in 2023, GM's luxury division also has something to show.

Presenting the Cadillac InnerSpace Concept, a two-passenger all-electric autonomous luxury vehicle. It can't be mistaken for anything but a concept thanks to its huge panoramic glass roof that extends to parts of the body sides and opens with the doors for easier entry and exit, pivoting seats, and a complete lack of rear glass. Not only is this a radical design exercise but also a technological one.

Running GM's new Ultifi software platform, the concept also boasts autonomous technology so that its two passengers can ride in luxury and comfort.

Inside, there are AI-driven biometric input and interfaces viewed from a massive panoramic SMD LED display. Occupants will be able to choose from Augmented Reality Engagement, Entertainment, and Wellness Recovery driving themes. Like those aforementioned production Chevy EVs, the InnerSpace Concept rides on GM's Ultium architecture. This allows for the battery modules to be spread out, thus increasing cabin space. Unlike combustion-engined vehicles, the floor-mounted battery gave designers the ability to create an ultra-low, sports car-like seating position. Also, there's no steering wheel or pedals. This thing, in theory, will completely drive itself.

"The vehicles of the Cadillac Halo Concept Portfolio are designed to provide effortless travel through extraordinary means," said Bryan Nesbitt, GM executive director for global design.

"Electrification and autonomous driving will fundamentally change the role of vehicles and the experiences customers have with them. We're exploring where that will go with these innovative concepts, envisioning mobility as an ally of wellness, giving customers the ultimate luxury, more personal time rather than taking it."

There are also specially designed Goodyear tires that are made of soybean oil and rice husk-based silica. The InnerSpace is part of Cadillac's Halo Concept Portfolio, which also includes an autonomous box-like bus and an aircraft capable of vertical takeoffs and landings. Don't expect the InnerSpace Concept to make production in its current form, but does provide a clearer idea of Cadillac's future direction.
