The Red Wings reassigned Witkowski to the taxi squad from AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
Witkowski bounced between rosters throughout December but never appeared in a game for the Red Wings. He hasn't played in the NHL since 2019-20, when he had a goal and two assists in 12 games with Tampa Bay.
