Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that Borussia Dortmund will hold talks with Erling Haaland regarding his future in the coming weeks, adding that he remains in very good hands at the club.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Erling Haaland’s future in recent weeks. The striker could leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and some of Europe’s biggest clubs are interested in signing him. That interest has not deterred the Black and Yellows however, with the BVB bosses determined to keep him at the club for at least another season.

Sebastian Kehl, who will become Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director in the summer, spoke about Haaland’s future on Wednesday. He said that Haaland is in good hands in Dortmund, and added that there are a number of reasons for him to stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

"“The situation is very clear, he has the opportunity to leave,” Kehl said. “But there are also a few reasons why Erling is in very, very good hands at Borussia Dortmund as well and why we as a club remain a very good option for him.”“We will sit down with Erling and his team in the coming weeks and discuss the situation in depth. Of course it would be good if the decision does not drag on forever.”"

Real Madrid are said to be leading the race to sign Erling Haaland, and the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for him. Mino Raiola said last month that it is possible his client could stay at Borussia Dortmund for another year.

Haaland still has two and a half years left on his Borussia Dortmund contract. Although his contract reportedly contains a release clause that will become active in the summer.
