Marion Richard Brooks

Marion Richard Brooks, 81, of Gretna went to be with his precious Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 6, 1940 in Gretna, Virginia, he was a son to the late Charlie Dave Brooks and Mattie Keatts Brooks. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Brooks, Nat Brooks, and James Brooks; and five sisters, Dollie Brooks, Virginia Wilson, Florence Brooks, Catherine Thompson, and Alice Brooks.

He was the former owner and operator of Gretna Lift Truck. Mr. Brooks was a member, deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and trustee of Cody Church of God of Prophecy for 53 years. He was a devoted and faithful servant of God, and shared his love for the Lord everywhere he went. Mr. Brooks never met a stranger, and was a blessing to so many over the years.

Mr. Brooks was married to Frances Millner Brooks on December 13, 1958. Family was the most important thing to him. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his greatest blessings and treasures. His special saying to all of them was, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” Forever embedded in the hearts of his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Millner Brooks of the residence; two daughters, Brenda Brooks King and husband, Kenneth of Gretna, and Wanda Brooks Lloyd and husband, Sandy of Gretna; five grandchildren, Melissa Lloyd, Christopher King, Stephanie Henry and husband, Phillip, Amanda Robertson and T.J. Lloyd; four great-grandchildren, Aislynn Robertson, Lucas Henry, Drezden Smith-Lloyd, and Izabella Henry; a very special fur baby, Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Ava Mitchell. Burial will follow in Straightstone Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
