Fleetwood Macked tribute band to play fundraising concert for Barnstable High seniors

A musical tribute to legendary British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac will help raise funds this weekend to add to seniors' graduation festivities next spring.

The Barnstable High School Celebration Committee will host a concert by national touring tribute band Fleetwood Macked at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the school, 744 W. Main St., Hyannis.

New York-based Fleetwood Macked is described by event organizers as providing “the most authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute in the U.S.” and “the next best” option to watching the real thing. The more than 10-year-old group will play a family-friendly show of Fleetwood Mac hits from the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s, including “Go Your Own Way,” “Don’t Stop,” “Rhiannon” and “Landslide.” Grammy Award-winning Fleetwood Mac's 1977 "Rumours" is one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Hillary Epstein plays the Stevie Nicks role in the tribute band Fleetwood Macked, which will perform Saturday in Hyannis.

The Fleetwood Macked tribute band features professional rock musicians who played together in various incarnations before partnering over their mutual love of Fleetwood Mac. The group features husband-and-wife musical team Hillary and Michael Epstein (filling in for Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham), with friends Cecile Spagna "Cc Keyz" playing Christine McVie’s part, Jay Novas as John McVie and Phil Weiss as Mick Fleetwood.

Saturday's show will include costume changes, talk about the songs and video backdrops.

This will be the BHS parent group’s 10th annual concert fundraiser, some of which have raised money for the school’s music department, others helping to finance "Celebration" after-prom parties. Over time, the winter concerts have raised more than $120,000 for the student events, according to event organizer Paul Lococo.

This is the 27th year that a parents group has hosted some type of spring “Celebration.” The annual all-night, after-prom party for soon-to-be graduates typically includes inflatables, a hypnotist, artists, games and dancing. Parents started the Barnstable Celebration following a car accident that killed a BHS student, with the new tradition created as a way to offer a “safe environment” for students to party.

Michael Epstein takes on the role of Lindsay Buckingham in the tribute band Fleetwood Macked.

Past BHS benefit concerts have also featured tribute bands, including Beatlemania, an Eagles tribute band, Foreigner’s Journey, and Kashmir, a Led Zeppelin tribute group. The first show, Lococo said, was by The Liverpool Legends, a Beatles tribute band, and George Harrison's sister attended the Cape show, telling stories about her brother and the Beatles from her perspective and relationships with them.

Tickets cost $35-$45 for Saturday's show and are on sale at Purplepass.com, Shaw’s Markets in Hyannis or by calling 800-316-8559. Wearing face masks will be required.
