Alicia Keys Announces Release Date of New Book ‘Girl on Fire’

Published: Wednesday 5th Jan 2022 by Rashad

Almost ten years after setting the Billboard 200 ablaze with her fourth #1 studio album, ‘Girl on Fire,’ singer-songwriter Alicia Keys is looking to do the same to The New York Times Best Seller list with the book adaptation of the LP.

Taking to Instagram shortly before the new year (as seen above), Keys excitedly revealed the book’s cover and release date.

Due on bookshelves March 1, ‘Fire’ comes as her third foray into authorship (following 2004’s ‘Tears for Water: Poetry & Lyrics’ and the 2020 memoir ‘More Myself: A Journey’).

Co-written by Andrew Weiner and illustrated by Brittney Williams, the forthcoming coming-of-age novel follows a 14-year-old girl named Lolo who discovers telekinetic powers.

“When I wrote ‘Girl on Fire,’ I knew I was writing it for that girl in the way back row who needed someone to tell her there’s nothing you can’t do, that nothing is impossible,” Keys said in a statement. “When Andrew and I came up with the idea of translating the song into a young adult graphic novel, I knew that I wanted it to be about a girl coming to realize the strength she’s always had. There’s a little Lolo in all of us—we all have the power inside to do what we never even thought we could—and I’m so proud and crazy excited to be able to share her story with you.”
