Happy National Spaghetti Day! The Walking Dead has a few connections with spaghetti, which sees the fandom enjoying Spaghetti Tuesday on Wednesdays.

If you follow Undead Walking on Twitter, you know we often celebrate the National Days by finding ways to tie the celebrated days to the series. Sometimes it is difficult to make a connection, and other times it is hilarious to find some random small way to make the connections.

Spaghetti was an easy one as there are multiple ties from the series.

The Walking Dead season 3

In season three, episode “Internment” of The Walking Dead, Hershel and the group were battling a mysterious illness that took down many of the prison residents. Many of the sick succumbed to the disease, while Hershel worked non-stop to save as many lives as possible. During a very tense moment in the presence of a very sick Sasha, who was also working tirelessly, Hershel declared that the prison would have Spaghetti Tuesdays on Wednesday. To lighten the mood, he then added as soon as they find some spaghetti.

The Walking Dead season 5

“Forget” is an episode in season five of the lesser referenced spaghetti scene. You remember the one where Daryl eats spaghetti like a toddler. After Daryl and Aaron made an unsuccessful attempt to catch a horse the children of Alexandria had named Buttons, Aaron asks Daryl to join him and Eric for dinner.

The Walking Dead season 7

Negan got cozy in Rick’s house while waiting for his return in the season seven episode “Hearts Still Beating.” During that time, he shaved while giving Carl pointers on the act and made spaghetti for Carl, which he later brags to Rick about. Olivia was also a guest at the dinner that they ate in silence.

Another useless fun fact about TWD and spaghetti:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his family stayed in Rick’s house in Alexandria while filming the “Here’s Negan” episode. During that time, Hilarie Burton Morgan posted a photo of Morgan cooking spaghetti in Rick’s house in Alexandria on her IG account.

I hope you continue to occasionally enjoy Spaghetti Tuesdays on Wednesday in honor of Hershel Greene.
