Coronation Street's Emma Brooker and Faye Windass are grappling with a moral dilemma.
Previously, Faye (Ellie Leach) had agreed to drive back Emma (Alexandra Mardell) from a New Year's Eve party, accidentally knocking over an elderly man called Ted on the way.
The man assured them he was fine and went back to his flat. Hours later, Emma and Faye went back to see Ted to apologise but found him dead. After debating what to do, the two friends decided not to report it.

In tonight's (January 4) double bill, Emma was having a hard time keeping the secret as guilt was consuming her. Faye tried to calm her down, explaining it was important to stick to their original plan.
"There's no reason for anyone to be suspicious of us," Faye told Emma.
However, Emma panicked after Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) found Ted's crutch in his car boot. She pretended the crutch was part of her fancy costume for New Year's, making up she went dressed up as Tiny Tim from A Christmas Carol.

Later on, Emma broke the pact she made with Faye and called the police from a phone box, pretending to be Ted's concerned neighbour.
At the Rovers, Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) told Faye that the police were looking into the death of an old man after receiving an anonymous tip-off.
He added they would be treating the death as suspicious as the man had bruises on the side of his body.

Once alone with Faye, Emma admitted she had made the call as she was feeling guilty. A furious Faye said that the police may be able to trace the call, in which case she would want nothing to do with Emma.
"You're on your own," Faye said.
Will they be caught?
