Michelle Obama’s next gig is a ‘thrill’ acting opposite Tracee Ellis Ross

Being first lady was great, but Michelle Obama might have a second act in acting.

In tonight’s eighth and final season premiere of “black-ish,” Obama, 57, will appear as herself on the ABC show.

Tracee Ellis Ross, who plays Rainbow “Bow” Johnson, revealed in a WSJ magazine interview that she personally called Obama to invite her on the series.

“She and I are friends. It was a phone call I made,” Ross, 49, said of Obama. “We got to do really important subject matter that’s mixed in with fun, so it’s receivable.”

The former FLOTUS will use her screen time to promote her voter registration campaign, When We All Vote. In the episode, she takes the Johnsons to a voting fundraiser.

“I’ve long been a fan of @blackishabc’s wit and all-around brilliance, and it was such a thrill to join in for an episode. I can’t wait for you all to see it!” Obama wrote on Twitter.

“It felt really fun to welcome someone so special who’s been so important in our world, in our culture, in the kinds of stories we told on ‘black-ish,'” Ross added.

In a video posted on Twitter by Obama, she sits next to Ross to announce a “black-ish” watch party and encourages viewers to volunteer.

“You do not want to miss this,” Obama says in the video. “This is going to be a good one.”

But this isn’t the first time Obama had the opportunity to act.

She appeared as herself on a two-part episode of the NBC series “Parks and Recreation” in 2014.

The season premiere of “black-ish” will air on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
