JACKSON, Wyo. — One man says he’s thankful he was able to walk away after he was buried by an avalanche while snowmobiling in Wyoming.
John Sievers posted a video showing the rescue to Facebook Sunday afternoon.
Sievers was snowmobiling up a steep backcountry incline when his vehicle was completely overcome by snow.

After hearing Sievers’ motor die, friend Jason Rubio sprung into action and raced over to Sievers. In his post, Sievers said he pulled the handle on his avalanche bag “like (his) life depended on it,” but it didn’t deploy.
Rubio was able to dig out Sievers, who was completely buried by the avalanche.
Sievers expressed deep gratitude for having Rubio there to save his life.
